          Philip Kotler, an American scholar and internationally renowned professor of international marketing, was born on May 27, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois.

          He was born into a family of immigrants from the Russian Empire. Kotler earned his master's degree in economics from the University of Chicago and his Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also studied mathematics at Harvard University and specialized in behavioral sciences at the University of Chicago.
